Thanks to funding in part from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, the City of Stratford will be launching an exciting new initiative called Building Bridges Through Sharing Circles.
This seniors-led program aims to share lived experiences and culture to educate, mentor and celebrate diversity within our community. It will include several public events throughout the remainder of the year with opportunities for cultural exchanges and intergenerational connections.
The Sharing Circle project will launch on August 16 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with a Chinese Cultural Celebration in Market Square, featuring Chinese music, dance performances and drumming. It will include a variety of cultural displays, as well as demonstrations of karate and Tai Chi. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Chinese culture right in the heart of Stratford.
Other events will follow in the coming months, including an Active Adults Open House, Wellness and Multicultural Fair, and a Newcomers Bus Tour and Community Cultural Celebration.
The Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program is a federal grants and contributions program whose goal is to support projects that help improve the well-being of seniors, and foster social inclusion and engagement in their communities.
