The City of Stratford offers residential curbside collection for seasonal yard waste such as leaves, hedge trimmings, tree prunings, weeds, and yard plants. Yard waste does not include food waste from your kitchen or grass clippings. The City offers residents up to one cubic metre of free compost, subject to availability.
2024 collection weeks are as follows City Wide on your normal collection day.
Trucks begin collecting at 8 a.m. on your scheduled garbage day during the leaf and yard waste weeks, so please have all items to the curb by then. The collection truck makes two rounds, picking up bags and cans on one round and on the other round picks up the brush bundles on your designated collection day.
Small materials such as leaves and plants should be placed out in clearly marked certified compostable bags, kraft paper bags or in reusable containers with a yard waste label attached. Plastic bags are no longer accepted for leaf and yard waste collection.
If you miss the collection or have loads less than 200 kg you may take it to the compost depot at the landfill site where it will be accepted at no charge. Loads over 200 kg will be charged the regular tip fee per tonne.
Residents can pick up to one cubic meter of finished compost while supply lasts. Commercial users and landscapers can purchase compost. Contact us by email for availability of compost.
